סְתָמָאch. sam( סְתָם m. (preced.) closing up). B. Bath.61b אי אמר ליה ארעתא ס׳ if he said to him, fields (I sell thee), without any further qualification. B. Mets.81b הנח ס׳ ‘put it down without anything else (instead of הנח לפני or הנח לפניך); הא ס׳ ולא כלום from which we deduce that if he said merely, ‘put it down, he has said nothing.
